Taveta Member of Parliament Dr Naomi Shaban is currently leading a delegation to the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training in India, in her capacity as the Parliamentary Service Commission Vice Chairperson and also the Chairperson of the board of Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training (CPST).
The delegation which comprises of Senators Aaron Cheruiyot, Beth Mugo and Commissioner Dr Lorna Mumelo attended a stormy session of India's Upper House (Rajya Sabha) on Thursday, where members of the opposition paralysed proceedings both during the morning and afternoon sessions forcing the Speaker Venkaiah Naidu who is also India's Vice President to adjourn the House to Friday.
The delegation also met with the Secretary General (Clerk) of the Lower House (Lok Sabha) Mrs Snehlata Shrivastava after another stormy session where the opposition also paralysed the House forcing the Speaker Mrs Sumitra Mahajan to adjourn the House.
Others in the delegation include CPST Board member Prof Maria Nzomo, CPST Director Prof Nyokabi Kamau, Parliament Director of Finance and Accounting Dr George Wakah, Martin Mutua (Head of Media Relations), Dorcas Ambuto (Public Communications), Peter Mwangangi (Psc Secretariat) and Shem Obaigwa (Accounts).
