Former Narc Kenya Nyamira County vice chairman Ongera Mokaya has joined the ODM.
Mokaya made the announcement on his Facebook account on Thursday stating that he arrived at the decision following his party’s boss, Martha Karua’s support for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s 2017 re-election.
Karua who is eyeing the Kirinyaga County governorship said Thursday her plan to support Uhuru was because he is the choice of Kirinyaga people.
"My party will not be fielding a presidential candidate in 2017 and the residents from this region want Mr Kenyatta to go back to State House. I have no problem with that," she told the 400 Narc-Kenya delegates at Kianyaga Catholic Church in Gichugu as quoted by the Daily Nation.
But now Mokaya says he cannot support a corrupt government and President Uhuru, and will thus join ODM and Cord.
“I thank Narc Kenya party and supporters for they re- elected me to be s party vice chairman in Nyamira county up to date and since my party leader Hon. Martha Karua has officially joined and is supporting this corrupt government and Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election,I to have officially resign as the party vice chair Nyamira county and joined ODM and CORD to support my second Dad after my Father Hon.Raila Amollo Odinga. Thanks in advance. Hon.Ongera Mokaya,” read the post.
