On Monday, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) lawyers differed with the lawyers representing National Super Alliance (NASA) claiming that the opposition filed their petition past the required deadline. Kamau Karori who is the lawyer representing the IEBC wrote a letter to NASA accusing them of submitting evidence at the Supreme Court past the deadline. "Upon inquiring from the Supreme Court, we were advised that you were still filing court documents as at midday today (Sunday). Our client is concerned as to why documents are still being filed way out of time," Mr Karori wrote as reported by The Standard.
According to Paul Mwangi, one of the lawyers representing NASA, they have not received any letter regarding the petition.
"We have not received any letter from them. We don't know what they are claiming. We filed publicly, the documents were accepted publicly, and this was seen by all people. These are side shows. They ought to concentrate on replying to the case instead of these allegations." Mwangi stated.
Karori has asked the Registrar of the Supreme Court to identify any documents filed after the deadline.
