The opposition party is at the center of attention again following reports of certain Member of Parliament being favored more than others.

According to reports a group of 20 Coast MPs vowed to put aside their personal interests and that of the party to work hand in hand for the residents in the coast region.

Many had planned to walk out during the NASA rally but had a change of heart once they thought about the repercussions its would have on Governor Hassan Joho and NASA flagbearer Raila Odinga.

Despite all of this the MPs maintained that they will stay united and would work together to fix issues pending in Coast.

“This is the unity of the Coast. The journey has started and will not stop. We will walk together from Lunga Lunga to Kiunga to unite Coast residents. We will fight for the rights of all Coast residents,” Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo said

However, many MPs feel like their fellow party members are favored by NASA principals and other powerful members of the alliance.

Political analyst Philip Kaulu believes coast is still not fully united and has called upon Coast MPs to rally behind one central leader.

“Unity cannot come from several centres of power. There must be one centre of power behind which the others follow,” Kaulu said. “It will also be difficult for the new MPs to unite the Coast region because there are both internal and external factors that need experience to solve. The old guard should lead this quest for unity,” Kaulu said.
