The NASA caravan will be heading to the Coast region next Wednesday in their bid to cement their political bedrocks ahead of the August 8 elections.
Despite the latest poll survey by Ipsos Synovate giving Raila Odinga a healthy lead over President Uhuru Kenyatta in the race for the over 1.7 million votes in the region, NASA's campaign team is not leaving anything to chance. In order to ensure the expansive region is well covered during the campaigns, the NASA campaign team has adopted a two-pronged approach with one section of the leaders covering Kilifi and Mombasa counties with a different group set to camp in Tana River and Lamu counties. With the region already considered a NASA zone, the tour is expected to water down the gains made by President Kenyatta and his Jubilee party having toured the region twice in the past one week. The recent poll survey indicated that Uhuru is gaining ground in the region as he would garner 26 per cent of the votes if elections were held today.NASA is banking on Mombasa Governor Hassan Omar, his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi and Senator Hassan Omar to ensure the region's votes remain guarded from Jubilee's constant raid.
