The opposition, National Super Alliance (NASA), has been on the wrong side of the police for quite a while now. For most of their political gatherings, NASA has clashed with police leading to loss of lives, property and disruption of normal socio-economic activities.
In most of the clashes, both NASA and police have maintained that they are always right. For the police, they have maintained that NASA is responsible for orchestrating violence and destruction of property forcing them to intervene.
On the other hand, NASA has maintained that their political events are always disrupted by police however peaceful. In fact, they believe the disruption of their events by police is the main reason why property is always destroyed as their supporters are always irked.
But for how long will NASA and the police continue to engage in this dangerous cat and mouse game?
The two groups should work to ensure that these clashes are done away with once and for all. People cannot continue to lose lives, property and suffer from other injustices while both NASA and police continue to absolve themselves of the blame.
If it is NASA that does not follow the law in organising their political events, then they should stop exposing their supporters to danger. The continued loss of lives is not helping the coalition in its political course.
Similarly, if it is the police overlooking the law and disrupting legal NASA events, then they should stop and help end the continued deaths of citizens they are supposed to protect. They should in fact provide security and help protect property.
This way, both parties will go home happy after a day's political outing. If however not solved, more lives will be lost and more property destroyed in the future.
