National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga (72) led the opposition outfit in their final rally at Uhuru Park where party supporters thronged the arena to listen to their leaders’ closing remarks as campaigns entered homestretch.
Speeches from the coalition principals echoed the change call that has been termed as Kenya’s 3rd liberation.
The outcome of Tuesday’s poll is seen by many as a game changer not only for the country’s politics but greatly to Raila Odinga’s political lifeline.
This is the fourth time Odinga is vying for the country’s high office.
Many of his supporters believe after the 2007 election, this year’s exercise is the second best opportunity to have Odinga ascend to power and yield the much “awaited” social change.
Odinga’s 2017 campaign has broadly been hinged on social justice, including providing solution to past historical injustices and forming an all-inclusive government.
During the Uhuru Park rally, the former prime minister led his co-principals in calling for a higher voter turnout on Tuesday 8th when the general election will be conducted.
“I want to urge Kenyans from all corners of this country, we have talked to everybody in every province and they have said Raila-Kalonzo tosha”, Odinga said expressing confidence that on August 9th, he would be the sitting president.
The opposition leaders urged their supporters to vote in large numbers.
