The National Super Alliance (NASA) has called off the peaceful demonstrations earlier scheduled for Friday.
Confirming the developments, Siaya Senator James Orengo said that this was to give ample time for the ongoing debate in the various county assemblies that will allow for creation of a People’s Assembly.
In his Thursday statement, Orengo told NASA supporters that a new date will be set.
"NASA, in the meantime, wishes to congratulate the County Assemblies that have so far debated and passed the motion on People’s Assembly."
"We encourage those that are yet to do so to move with speed and give Kenyans a chance to decide their destiny," Orengo said.
Acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i earlier said that demos had been banned in the three cities of Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.
