The opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) has been cautioned against causing tension in the country ahead of the repeat presidential poll slated for October 26.
Addressing journalists in Mombasa on Monday, Jubilee leaders in the county said election preparations in the country are going on well thus there is no reason for the opposition to demonstrate. The leaders argued that the demonstrations could plunge the country into violence.Led by Mombasa Jubilee campaign coordinator Mohammed Juma Lubambo, the leaders said the date set for the presidential rematch is ideal as it will not interfere with the national exams.Lubambo said the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was prepared to hold the election hence there was no cause for alarm.
He urged politicians across the divide to tame their tongues when addressing supporters in rallies.
“Both NASA and Jubilee should conduct their campaigns by adhering to the laws of the country. Politicians should desist from making inflammatory and abusive statements because we want peaceful campaigns,” said Lubambo.
Lubambo said he is confident President Uhuru Kenyatta will beat NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga in the repeat poll by a huge margin.
“We are very sure that we will win the repeat presidential elections by a very big margin and NASA should prepare to lose,” he added.Lubambo also appealed to Coast residents to support the Jubilee government as it works towards implementing various development projects in the Coast region.
