The Opposition NASA is demanding that acting Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet be held responsible for the alleged police brutality against civilians demonstrating in parts of the country.
Through its Chief Executive Officer Norman Magaya, NASA vowed to seek legal redress on the alleged violations that saw a good number of opposition demonstrators killed.
Elsewhere, government Spokesman Eric Kiraithe has dismissed the reports by human rights bodies which said police are using excessive force against demonstrators.
He challenged the civil organisations to channel their evidence to the various constitutional institutions established to give oversight to the police.
This follows a Monday report released by human rights watch Amnesty international, which implicated police for the loss of at least 33 lives in the wake of the announcement of the August 8 general election.
