The National Super Alliance (NASA) Coordinating Committee is reportedly considering a power sharing deal to avoid fallout at the Coast.Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is likely not to field candidates for the gubernatorial race in some of the six counties at the Coast to pave way for Wiper aspirants, reports the Star.If agreed upon, the deal will not only mark the end of controversies surrounding the control of the Coast but also end the dominance of the Raila Odinga led-party. Political observers also argue that the move is likely to boost chances of the alliance rising to power in the forthcoming general elections. A few days ago, Nyali MP Hezron Awiti defected from Wiper over allegations that there was a plot to lock him out of the governorship race in favour of Senator Hassan Omar.A NASA insider has, however, said that the leaders within the alliance are not comfortable with the said deal, the Star reports. “The Coast seat (division) talks were not perched up firmly, and no one will be comfortable discussing them, because it will mess presidential options,” said the source, as quoted by the daily. The deal is likely to see Lamu preserved for MusaliaMudavadi’s ANC party which the incumbent Governor Issa Timamy belongs to.
