Jubilee Party leaders have said the planned demonstrations by the National Super Alliance (NASA) are meant to create political uncertainty in the country.
They instead have asked Coast residents to shun the protests even as they campaigned for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the region.Former Budalang’I MP Ababu Namwamba said Sunday NASA should push for reforms through the Senate and National Assembly, noting that the demos would hurt the country’s economy.“We know Coast people are peaceful and we urge you not to take part in the demonstrations. Mombasa is the gateway to the economy of this country and those demos will affect your businesses,” said Ababu as quoted by the Nation.“Reforms can’t come by taking the country hostage and creating uncertainty,” he added during a rally in Nyali. On his part, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria now wants the three Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) returning officers in Mombasa who did not sign forms 34B in the August 8 presidential election arrested.Former MP Moses ole Sakuda, Mombasa gubernatorial aspirant loser Suleiman Shahbal, former women reps Zainab Chidzuga and Joyce Lay attended the rally.NASA leader Raila Odinga has called for demos as the opposition pushes for reforms in the IEBC ahead of the October 26 repeat poll.
