Matatu operators in Eldoret town have asked the National Super Alliance (NASA) to call off their weekly demonstrations they recently announced.

Last week, NASA said they will hold protests on Mondays and Fridays starting today to demand for the resignation of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba before the October 26 repeat presidential election.

Speaking in Eldoret, Sunday, Uasin Gishu Matatu Association Secretary general Sosteen Ruto expressed concerns over the demonstrations which he said might negatively affect their business.

"We are business people and our Matatu business depends on people moving around the country. If NASA holds their demos nobody will move around meaning we won't have any business to do," said Ruto.

The Matatu operators further asked the opposition to focus on campaigning for the upcoming repeat presidential election instead of saying there will be no election on October 26.

"Raila and team should allow the polls to be held on the set date by IEBC so that we close this elections chapter once and for all and allow our economy go grow instead of keeping us into the campaign mood," Ruto noted.

NASA leaders have on several occasions been quoted saying they will not go into the October 26 election if IEBC staff they claim bungled August 8 elections are not sacked.
