A group of 12 Kenyans from Nakuru county have filed a case against the National Super Alliance (Nasa).
The petition seeks to bar Raila Odinga’s team from taking any action against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The 12 want opposition leaders restrained from interfering with IEBC’s operations as it prepares for a fresh presidential election.
"Pending hearing and determination of this matter, we request this court to issue conservatory orders of injunction restraining Nasa affiliate parties and its leaders from removing the IEBC commissioners, members of the secretariat and electoral officials from office and replacing them," reads the petition read in part.
Nasa leaders have been pushing for the removal of some IEBC officials, key among the CEO Ezra Chiloba.
They accuse Chiloba of being behind the irregularities that saw the presidential results nullified.
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Wiper, Ford Kenya, Amani National Congress, IEBC and its chairman Wafula Chebukati, the Registrar of Political Parties and the Attorney-General have been listed as respondents in the petition.
The petitioners want Chebukati barred from naming a new team to oversee the fresh election.
