The opposition will conduct a parallel Presidential election on October 26 if the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) does not heed to their demands, Siaya Senator James Orengo has remarked.

According to Kenyans.co.ke, Orengo, a NASA Lawyer said that the electoral commission has proven beyond doubt that it is not ready to conduct a free and fair exercise.

He was speaking during a rally in Mombasa on Sunday.

“If President Uhuru Kenyatta and IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati go ahead with the elections, we will conduct our own election,” said the senator, as quoted by the local daily.

The remarks of the lawmaker were reiterated by other leaders of the opposition including Odinga, who is taking a fourth Stab at the nation’s top seat.

The opposition leaders have maintained that they will not take part in the rerun unless their demands are met.

The leaders have been pushing for the resignations of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba and other officials thought to have had a hand in the bungled August general elections.

Raila has insisted that he is not pushing for a coalition government as opined by the leaders aligned to Jubilee.
