Uasin Gishu gubernatorial race has taken yet another twist after the opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA) endorsed incumbent Jackson Mandago.
It came as a surprise to hundreds of locals who had attended the NASA rally at the 64 stadium in Eldoret town keeping in mind that governor Mandago is a Jubilee candidate.
Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto was first to publicly declare support to Mandago claiming his competitor Zedekiah Bundotich Buzeki was Deputy President William Ruto's project.
"I want to tell him (DP Ruto) that he cannot force leaders on people. In Bomet there is someone they want and here in Uasin Gishu there is also someone they prefer instead of Mandago," Ruto said.
"If I was a voter here, I would go for governor Jackson Mandago," added Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Mandago and Buzeki are engaged in a fierce political battle and it remains to be seen whether NASA's endorsement will have an impact on the race.
