Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has accused leaders of the National Super Alliance (NASA) of ferrying supporters from Nairobi to the county to attend their rally.
The governor, who is defending his seat in August, rubbished claims that Cord leader Raila Odinga and Wiper Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka have the capacity to influence the outcome of the county’s gubernatorial race.
Mutua said that the real voters of the county did not attend the rally as alleged. “The NASA rally did not assist Ndeti’s candidature. They had to ferry supporters in lorries from Nairobi to get a crowd. The real voters stayed away,” the governor told the Star.
Mutua also said that the residents of this part of the nation are aware of the kind of leaders they want to lead them when that time comes.
“The people of Machakos have decided. What they want is development and they know where that can be found, and that is in Maendeleo Chap Chap,” he added.
The remarks of the county boss come after Raila put him on spot for allegedly buying media space to advertise himself instead of initiating projects that can benefit the people.
“Your governor is a man of mere theatrics, full of empty talk. He promised to build a city here in Machakos, Was that achieved? He thinks the people of Machakos are stupid, but we are telling him, his time is over,” Raila said
