The venue for the Nyanza People’s Assembly Convention has been moved from Migori to Homa Bay County over alleged security concerns.

This was revealed on Wednesday, as the National Super Alliance put finishing details for the meeting set to take place on Saturday, January 27.

The meeting is expected to play host to Nyanza region counties, including Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Siaya, Nyamira and Kisii counties.

According to Philip Makabongo, who is the Secretary of the coordination team, the change was reached upon after consultations with the relevant NASA officials and committees.

“We appeal to all elected leaders to provide means of transport to all NASA supporters who are willing to attend the event,” said Makabongo said after the meeting.

The coalition is facing a similar dilemma in Nairobi, with the county closing down Uhuru Park grounds, which was the main venue for the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.

According to the notice by the county government, the grounds will be under renovation, meaning no other business can be undertaken.

The NASA coalition has continued with their push to have Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka sworn in as the people’s president and deputy respectively.
