Opposition leaders from Gusii region now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to suspend key government operations in NASA strongholds until elections are done.

Among the operations they want halted with immediate effect include registration of orphans, disabled people, old aged and the widows.

Led by Ex-Nation journalist Nyambega Gisesa, who doubles as Nyamira campaign sectary, they alleged that some of the activities are used to buy national IDs from unsuspecting locals.

“We want the government to stop immediately registration of old aged people, youths, orphans and widows,” he said, adding that NASA will take action on officials found henceforth carrying the activities.

He added:”We have found them misusing the exercises just to illegally take ID cards from locals and this only targets NASA strongholds.”

Five officials attached to NYS were rescued by the police when angry locals nabbed them at Dallas Hostel allegedly luring locals to surrender their IDs in return of unspecified amount of money.

Similarly in Kisumu, Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o banned hotel meetings following an incident where dozens of women were seriously injured on claims that they were engaging in buying of IDs.
