NASA MPs have given the Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko a 72-hour ultimatum to act against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials they believe bungled the August 8 elections.

Speaking during a press briefing at the Intercontinental Hotel, Nairobi, on Friday 22, the MPs led by Dagorethi North Lawmaker Simba Arati and his nominated counterpart Geoffrey Osotsi,  the opposition legislators argued that whereas the Supreme Court did not indict a specific IEBC poll over the bungled poll, the DPP should investigate the poll body staff.

According to the lawmakers, should the office of the DPP fail to initiate investigations into the bungled poll, they will institute their private prosecutions against those those who are mentioned.

"If he (DPP Tobiko) will not act in 72 hours, we will institute our private prosecutions those who are mentioned," said Osotsi who is also the Amani National Congress Secretary General.

The sentiment by the opposition-allied MPs comes just hours after the IEBC Director of Legal Services Praxedes Tororey offered to retire.
