Taita Taveta County Governor Granton Samboja has condemned Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala, after he led an exercise of relocating some of the Jumbos to Tsavo National Park.
On Wednesday, Balala led the Kenya Wildlife Service in relocating elephants from Solio/Sangare Ranch in Laikipia County to Tsavo in Taita Taveta following increased human-wildlife conflict.
However, in a quick rejoinder, Samboja who was elected on NASA's Wiper Democratic Movement-Kenya but pledged to work with Jubilee government, said his county was tired of human-wildlife conflict as well.
"I strongly condemn Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary - Najib Balala's move to relocate elephants from Solio/Sangare Ranch in Laikipia to Tsavo -Taita Taveta, We are tired of human-wildlife conflict in TTC."
"We have lost our loved ones, crops and properties destroyed, some schools within have also performed poorly due to absenteeism caused by fear of the uncontrolled elephants," Samboja said, adding that his electorates had had enough from elephants from Tsavo.
"Our people have experienced enough injustice caused by uncontrolled Jumbos," he said.
