[Photo|BCG]Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has put on notice County staff who earn salaries without delivering service to County residents saying their days are numbered. The governor delivered the ultimatum on the lazy employees as he pledged to constitute his cabinet next month after the ruling of his election petition case on February 5.Addressing a press conference in his office on Wednesday flanked by his Deputy Moses Mulomi, CeCs Martin Kafwa, Dr Moses Osia and County Secretary Nicodemus Mulaku, he said it will not be business as usual for staff who are fond of making technical appearances and disappear the whole day."Some staff stay in Nairobi for as many as two months without permission and yet they continue drawing salaries. Residents who come to seek services but in vain end up blaming the governor and his government," he said on Wednesday."I have directed my County Secretary and the County Public Service Board to tighten their belts and ensure that the staff in all departments earn salaries for job done or they be retrenched," he warned. He said it is regrettable that some employees earn salaries without delivering any service, adding that the act had persisted especially since the electioneering period."I am happy my deputy who is a technocrat and understands administration. He will help us in many ways in building a better Busia which is the gateway to East and Central Africa," he said. Ojaamong said he delayed naming his cabinet because of the long electioneering year in 2017. "After the August 8 elections I also faced an election petition which was concluded on Tuesday. I will wait for the decision of the court in February before starting the process of constituting a new cabinet that will be service delivery oriented," he said.
