Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong on Monday unveiled his new cabinet which he said is bringing a wealth of talent and experience to take the county to greater heights.In a departure from the old tradition, the governor delegated his Director of Communications Winston Wafula to release the list in a press conference.
The governor retained three County Executive Committee Members - Dr Moses Osia, who was retained under Agriculture Department; Bernard Yaite - new CeC for Youth, Sports, Tourism, Culture, Youth and Social Services; and Leonard Obimbira - retained as Finance CEC.
Nicodemus Mulaku also retained his seat as the County Secretary.New entrants in the cabinet include Knut Busia Branch Executive Officer George Okwara - Public Works), Bishop Sulumeti Girls Principal Phaustine Barasa - Health, Dr Janet Manyasi - Public Service, Dr Isaac Alukwe - Water, Judith Maketso - Trade, Prof. Grephas Opata - Lands and John Mwami - Education.
The ODM governor who was re-elected in the NASA coalition retained five chief officers.
"The nominations and appointments were done in strict observance of section 35 (1) of the County Government Act, principles of affirmative action, community and diversity within our great county," said Ojaamong.
