Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja has urged President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga to dialogue for the sake of peace and unity among Kenyans.Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Samboja said the country is divided, adding that Uhuru and Raila should hold talks urgently to ensure calm and peace in the country.The Wiper Governor said the country’s economic and political stability will be left hanging in the balance if the two leaders fail to dialogue.He appealed to Raila and Uhuru to put aside their political differences and dialogue.“We as a country are heading into a difficult situation if Uhuru and Raila do not dialogue,” said Samboja.The Governor said the talks must not be about power sharing but how to save the country from the political uncertainty it is currently facing.Samboja said the country’s interests are bigger than those of politicians, adding that Kenyans must stand up for peace and unity.He appealed to NASA leaders to drop their hard stance and give dialogue a chance.Samboja also called upon religious leaders and stakeholders to intervene and help solve the political statement.In his speech after being declared president-elect, Uhuru said he is open to dialogue with the opposition after all the constitutional mechanisms have been exhausted.On his part, Raila has maintained that NASA is ready to hold talks on how the country will conduct fresh presidential elections in 90 days.
