Kilifi governor Amason Kingi at a past function [Photo/the-star.co.ke]Kilifi governor Amason Kingi has affirmed that he is ready to pay any price for the Coast secession campaign to succeed.Speaking on Thursday during the swearing-in ceremony of the county executive committee members, the firebrand county boss said that the main reason behind the secession campaign is the failure of the Jubilee government to implement devolution. He also said fight to liberate the Coast residents from what he termed as poor leadership is unstoppable."The national government is killing devolution by failing to release money to counties on time. This is the main reason we want to manage our own affairs as the coast region," he added. He also said that he is ready to shelve his intentions to contest for the nation’s top seat in 2022 until the region attains self-rule. Kingi, a close ally of Mombasa county boss Ali Hassan Joho, divulged that he will host a convention of different leaders from the region to discuss the issue, adding that they must be united to achieve the dream. He further accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto of failing to implement the new constitution. He said that the Jubilee government has proven beyond doubt that it wants to kill devolution.
