A day after Former Mombasa Senator Omar Hassan joined Jubilee, Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja has downplayed speculations that he wants to follow suit. According to Daily Nation, Samboja has said that the claims are not only untrue but also driven by persons with ill motives.
The county boss, who spoke during a church service on Sunday, said that he still supports NASA Presidential candidate Raila Odinga, who is taking his fourth stab at the nation’s top seat. He insisted that he not uttered words that can link to Jubilee.
“I am shocked that some politicians are abusing me behind my back and yet I have not spoken a word. Are they scared of me?” the governor asked.
He also said that he is concentrating on delivering his mandate to the people who elected him than engaging in unnecessary campaigns.
“I want to make it clear that this is not a time for political rallies. I have a bigger role of delivering on my campaign pledges of building this county,” he said.
The governor has been accused of not drumming up support for the opposition following the nullification of President Uhuru’s win.
