Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has issued a statement after the Busia High Court upheld his August 8, re-election on Monday.
Below is his message.
"Cases are won and lost depending on evidence adduced, the petitioner relied on rumors and innuendos to advance this petition.
This now vindicates us, the final arbiter in an electoral contest is you the People and indeed you had spoken loudly in August last year.
You voted for me, your votes were tallied and announced in conformity with our constitution and the electoral laws. I thank God that the court has just confirmed that and I also thank you the people of Busia county for your prayers.
The work must start now, we must develop our great County. I will in the next few days constitute a full Government that will help us realize our desired development.
I want to leave a legacy that will be emulated by future generations. Let's take up the cause, and work together. We will do anything possible within our reach to build a better Busia County and Kenya.
We must lay a strong base for the future generations, and this is the time.
Thank you the people of Busia County.
God bless you."
