Former Cabinet Minister Musikari Kombo has taken issue with Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula's decision to seek reelection during the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking in Bungoma on Wednesday, the former lawmaker argued that Wetangula's decision only meant that Opposition coalition NASA is not confident enough that they will win the August polls.
He instead asked the locals to support President Uhuru Kenyatta's reelection bid.
“You have seen Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula announcing he will defend his seat. These are signs of fear that NASA might not form the next government. Let us support and vote for Uhuru, who is a sure bet,” he said.
Wetang'ula is one of the five NASA principals and a Ford Kenya party leader, which is one of the five major affiliate parties in NASA.
In an MoU signed by five parties, ODM party leader Raila Odinga was settled on as the NASA presidential candidate, with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka deputizing him.
Wetang'ula and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi are poised for senior government positions in the executive.
