This rally comes in the backdrop of a series of consultations between ODM’s Raila Odinga, Wiper Party’s Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula and ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi.

The meetings held in Nairobi are said to be strategic as the side plans to unveil its preferred candidate who will face off with Jubilee in August elections.

Chama Cha Mashinani party leader and Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto has confirmed that he would host the NASA team on Saturday 4.

However, Ruto dismissed reports of joining NASA as mere speculation. He said the claims are untrue.

Siaya Senator James Orengo and his Machakos counterpart Johnson Muthama, MPs John Bunyasi (Nambale) and Eseli Simiyu (Tongaren) are part of the coordinating committee that would lead the strategy of coming up with a solid team in the next few weeks.

Opposition parties have been in the loop to form what they term as a strong team that will remove Jubilee government from power.

They say that Jubilee leadership has failed Kenyans citing rampant corruption, escalating tribalism, industrial unrests and failure of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration to deliver pledges made in the run up to 2013 elections.

Musalia Mudavadi said ANC’s leadership reserved the name NASA as it tried to reach out to other opposition parties in a bid for unity. Concerns had emerged that Musalia had a plan to hijack the CORD ticket using the NASA party.

Leaders allied to Wiper and Ford Kenya had initially stated that their designated vehicle was CORD and not NASA.

However, latest developments signal that all four top leaders have agreed to settle on NASA as the official opposition vehicle ahead of August elections.

The NASA leadership intends bring on board former Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.

ODM party leader has severally maintained that NASA is a “vehicle for an alternative accountable, responsible and responsive leadership” for all Kenyans.
