Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has clarified that his decision to brain-child the National Super Alliance (NASA) is not based on the events that led to him ditching Jubilee in 2013 after he was allegedly tricked that he would be the coalition's flag bearer.
The ANC leader insisted it was a constitutional requirement to hold elections every five years, stating that Jubilee had failed Kenyans during their five-year term in office, a reason he added was enough not to let them stay in power any longer.
"This cannot be termed a revenge for what happened in 2013. Elections are coming in August in accordance with the constitution. So there is no way an election that is constitutional can be said to be a factor of revenge," he said during an interview with KBC TV on Friday.
"The five years to mark the end of the term of Jubilee government have come. We cannot just sit back and let the government to walk away free especially after performing poorly the way Jubilee has done," he added.
According to Musalia, the only chance for NASA winning the presidency depends on working as a team regardless of who will be the flag bearer.
"For us to deliver a victory, the four of us (Kalonzo, Raila, Mudavadi and Wetang'ula) and any other Kenyan interested in the NASA flag, we must work as a team," said the former Vice President.
"In a team of football, eleven aside, it does not matter who score the goal but what matters is a victory for the team. It is the interest of the team first then individual interest can follow," he added.
