Meru governor Peter Munya has now admitted that Opposition coalition NASA is gaining a lot of traction and support in Central Kenya - a perceived Jubilee Party stronghold.
Speaking on Tuesday during an interview with Citizen TV, the outgoing Council of Governors Chair cited unfulfilled pledges by President Uhuru Kenyatta in the run up to the 2013 general elections why NASA is gaining ground in Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties.
"We will see a change in the politics of Meru, see new faces come into leadership," he noted.
The outspoken governor, however, maintained that his PNU Party will back President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid during the forthcoming general elections.
"I am a supporter of Jubilee. I do not support the other political divide," he said.
He further revealed that the opposition coalition NASA had approached him for a possible pact deal, but rejected the offer.
"Nasa leader invited me, but I am a member of PNU party. If I wanted to be a member of Nasa, I would not ask for anybody’s permission," he said.
