The National Super Alliance (Nasa) and their Jubilee Party rivals have entered a rare political agreement.

The coalitions have vowed to say no to party hopping to all aspirants, after nominations are complete.

This follows a law passed by the National Assembly, in 2016, barring party hopping.

The Election Laws (Amendment) Bill 2016 and the Election Offences Bill were passed without amendments, despite opposition from other MPs.

The law allows politicians to choose their parties at least three months before elections.

The leaders from both Nasa and Jubilee, agreed Friday, not to welcome anyone who decamps from their current parties to the coalitions, after they are defeated in party primaries.

Led by Aden Duale, National Assembly Majority Leader, they agreed that aspirants who felt aggrieved after the nominations were only allowed to vie as Independent candidates.
