None of the two major coalitions, Jubilee and Nasa, is interested in free and fair elections.

Political analyst Prof Edward Kisiangani has said that the definition of a free and fair election by Nasa and Jubilee is where either of them wins irrespective of how unfair the process was to the other losing side.

Kisiangani who was speaking to Citizen TV on Thursday said that the Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has done a lot in terms of technology and putting in place solid preparations to ensure they deliver a credible election on August 8.

"We have the best technology in place but if at this late hour we had a way of replacing the two major political combatants, probably we would have a free and fair election because neither Nasa nor Jubilee is interested in a credible election. The election would be fair to either side rigged or not provided they win" said Kisiangani.

Kisiangani added that both political wings have shown and demonstrated through public actions and utterances that none is interested in a free and fair electoral process.

"Look at Jubilee, they are all the time busy defending the IEBC on nothing you might think they are their lawyers. They should leave the Iebc alone to fight their battles. On the other side, Nasa is extremely defensive that this election will be rigged but if you ask them, suppose it is stolen in your favour they keep quiet," he said.

He noted that the commission was more organised than in 2013 and should be allowed to continue with its preparations without putting obstacles along its way.
