Nairobi senator Johnstone Sakaja and his Kakamega counterpart Cleophas Malala have unveiled their building bridges team.
The two unveiled their team in Mombasa.
The two senators have been raising concerns that the unity team unveiled by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga did not have a representation of the youth and only comprised old faces.
“We want this team to have representation from across all the counties,” said Sakaja.
Last month, Malala threatened to name a parallel unity team if Kenyatta and Odinga would not add two slots for the youth.
The team will be led by June Ndegwa as the chairperson (Jubilee) and Fahad Kassim Vice-chair (ODM).
Apart from the two, nine members have also been picked from the former provinces as regional representatives.
Sakaja and Malala say they will remain co-patrons of the team and will kick start countrywide engagements to rally the youth behind the unity pact.
