A survey released on 3rd January 2018 by Trends and Insight For Africa (TIFA) indicates that National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters and Jubilee supporters differs in their 2018 expectations.

Despite majority of Kenyans being hopeful, Jubilee supporters are more optimistic than NASA supporters.

“More than 75% of Jubilee supporters feel that 2018 will be better than 2017. On the contrary not more that 50% of NASA supporters feel that 2018 will be better than 2017,” report on the survey states.

According to the survey, larger population from regions claimed to be Jubilee strongholds are more optimistic in expectations of the economic conditions, employment projects, political climate, cost of living and security as compared to NASA strongholds.

Only 49% of NASA supporters believe that political climate and cost of living will be better in 2018 as compared to Jubilee’s 77%. 

“The survey also reveals that the optimism levels of Kenyans vary by geographical regions. Residents of the Central region are the most optimistic followed by Eastern and Rift Valley regions. The least optimistic regions include Nyanza, Western and North Eastern,” indicated the report by the TIFA research Limited.

This survey targeted population aged 18 years and above and a sample size of 1005 respondents living in urban and rural areas. 95% confidence level was recorded.
