The opposition NASA alliance seems to have softened its hard stand with regards to its involvement in parliamentary operations.
Speaking during a parliamentary sitting Tuesday, National Assembly leader of minority John Mbadi said that the alliance will henceforth be involved in house business in a bid to iron out nationally important issues.
''If only we had a committee on Internal Security, the Inspector General of police could by now be answering on the violence and death inflicted on innocent Kenyans by his officers after the elections,'' said that Suba South lawmaker.
Lawmakers from both parties also agreed to each be included in two committees, citing gaps in the committees, with Majority Leader Aden Duale proposing an increment in the sizes of departmental and select committees, a move that will also see them take more money home.
''We have looked at the numbers and realized that there are some gaps, that's the reason why these members will receive our concerns, through our whips, on where we want the standing amended and each of the 349 members can be included in two committees, one departmental and one select,'' the Garissa township lawmaker is quoted by the nation.
