A Member of Parliament affiliated to the National Super Alliance (Nasa) has revealed the opposition’s new plan to guard votes in the upcoming election.
Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo says he will lead Nasa supporters in Mombasa County in guarding Raila Odinga’s votes.
The MP said they will eat, bathe and sleep at all polling stations in Mombasa until all results are announced.
"I assure you that the theft we saw at IEBC will not be repeated. This time we will eat, bathe and conduct night vigils to guard the vote,” the MP said on Sunday, as reported by The Star.
The Supreme Court on September 1 ordered for a fresh presidential election, saying the August poll was not conducted in accordance with the constitution and Elections Act.
Jubilee leader President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga will face off again on October 17, 2017.
Prior to the August election, Nasa leaders said they would guard Odinga’s votes through ‘adopt a polling station’ strategy.
Acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and the IEBC however said nobody would be allowed within a radius of 400 metres of a polling station after voting.
