A highly charged Deputy President William Ruto has taken a swipe on opposition leaders by accusing them of achieving ‘nothing’ while in power.
He was speaking at KICC moments after accompanying President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday during presentation of papers to electoral body IEBC.
“These people have no clear agenda for this nation. All they want is just power to divide Kenyans,” said Ruto, who is set to deputize Kenyatta should he win.
The DP said: “They have been in power for combined 130-yrs yet they achieved nothing. I wonder what they can do with five years in power. Let us face the facts and reelect Jubilee government.”
While Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi have served as Vice Presidents and senior ministers in previous regions, opposition leader Raila Odinga has served duration of less than nine years as Minister and Prime Minister.
Also, NASA co-Principals Moses Wetangula and Isaac Rutto served at one time as ministers in either regimes of Daniel Moi or Mwai Kibaki.
Interestingly, the DP and Kenyatta also served as powerful ministers in past regimes with the President deputizing Odinga as premier during grand coalition government.
