Suna East M.P. Junet Mohamed among other Nasa leaders on Monday said that the government is treating those close to NASA as criminals.

This happened shortly after a businessman's home Jimmy Wanjigi was raided by the police on Monday.

A home which was said to belong to Wanjigi was raided by the police who took the control for over seven hours before the flying squad came in, an operation which the Nasa leaders described as an act of intimidation by the government against individuals backing the opposition.

Addressing journalists outside Wanjigi’s home, Siaya senator James Orengo faulted the police for conducting the raid, claiming that the Special Crimes Prevention Unit conducted the operation without a search warrant.

“We are told that the operation is in connection to a raid on a house in Malindi where some guns were found. Unfortunately, the police could not tell us whether or not they are sure the premises belong to Mr Wanjigi,” said Orengo.

Orengo, accompanied by former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, walked into the premises a few hours after news broke that flying squad detectives had stormed the businessman’s home.

Junet Mohamed claimed that Jimmy Wanjigi, a powerful and wealthy man, was being “tormented and harassed” due to his association with the NASA coalition.

As the stories goes, senior officials in the government had been accusing Wanjigi to be a key Nasa Supporter, saying that he is the one funding the NASA campaigns.

Politicians who are now witnessing the police brutality and killings in the Nasa strongholds confirmed that the police are seeing those close to Nasa as criminals.

"They are treating those close to Nasa as criminals. Jimmy Wanjigi's home is raided because he is close to Nasa. Those demonstrating are killed because they are close to Nasa. The police are terming them as criminals."

In the past demonstrations, Nasa supporters in their strongholds are experiencing police brutality.

In Kisumu County, a form four student was butchered by someone dressed in police uniform.

The witness said that the "officer" shot the innocent boy who had gone to buy ice cream.
