NASA leaders in Nakuru county have called for sobriety even as Kenyans go to the polls.

Addressing media in Nakuru following an incident where hate leaflets were found in parts of Nakuru West Sub County, the leaders led by ODM Nakuru County chairperson Mr Peter Ole Sono stated that there was a need for sobriety and called on residents to embrace each other.

While condemning the act by a few individuals who are out to threaten some communities in Nakuru County, Ole Sono stated that it was wrong for anyone to threaten others on the basis of tribe adding that every Kenyan has a right to live anywhere in Kenya.

“We want peace in Nakuru County as NASA we will not allow anyone to threaten a particular community as we have seen on these leaflets,” he said.

The NASA leaders also called on the security agents led by acting Interior CS Fred Matiang’i to ensure security for all Kenyans.

They faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta over statements he made that the chiefs who will be found not cooperating will be sacked.

According to Ole Sono, the administrators should not be intimidated in any way as they are on duty to serve all Kenyans and not to favor any political party.

“We are telling Matiang’i that his docket is for all Kenyans not only Jubilee. We were surprised to hear the President state that all chiefs who fail to cooperate will be sacked. Let us assure the chiefs that after we ascend to power we shall bring them back," he said.

His sentiments were echoed by CCM’s Nakuru County woman Representative candidate Gladys Kamuren who said the country had gone through the worst experience in 2007/2008 and no one was ready to go the same direction.

While terming the circulated hate leaflets as mere threats, Kamuren called on NASA supporters in Nakuru County not to panic but be firm and ensure peace for all in Nakuru county and the Nation at large.

“We know the 2007/2008 consequences and no one is ready to go that way again. The leaflets are just a mere threat but we want to call on all our supporters not to panic but ensure peace for all,” he said.

Kamuren also condemned the incident where NASA Presidential Flag bearer Raila Odinga was heckled while on a rally in Keringet, Nakuru County terming it immature politics being orchestrated by a few individuals.

She called on the security agents to ensure politicians who cause havoc in opponents’ rally are dealt with according to the law.
