Machakos governor Alfred Mutua has accused Opposition coalition NASA leaders of ganging up to unseat him during the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking on Tuesday, the outspoken governor noted that the campaign mounted by opposition leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka in support of Machakos gubernatorial hopeful Wavinya Ndeti was a clear indication that he is a force to reckon with.
He further observed that the endorsement of Ndeti by NASA would not sway the voters.
“The NASA rally did not assist Ndeti’s candidature. They had to ferry supporters in lorries from Nairobi to get a crowd. The real voters stayed away,” he said.
“The people of Machakos have decided. What they want is development and they know where that can be found, and that is in Maendeleo Chap Chap," he added.
Mutua will be defending his seat on his Maendeleo Chap Chap Party ticket.
He was, however, elected on a Wiper Party ticket during the 2013 general elections.
Ndeti will be vying on the Wiper Party tickek after trouncing Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala during the primaries.
