Opposition leaders in Mombasa on Saturday inspected the venue where NASA will hold a mega rally in the Coastal City on Sunday.
NASA leader Raila Odinga will be the key speaker at the event that is expected to attract thousands of opposition supporters in Mombasa and other opposition strongholds.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula who are all NASA co-principals will speak at the rally.
On Saturday morning, Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir while riding on a hoarse led local leaders including former Kisauni MP Rashid Bedzimba and Governor Hassan Joho’s deputy William Kingi in inspecting Mama Ngina Grounds, the venue for the rally which the opposition says will be used to make a ‘mega announcement’.
Raila has withdrawn his candidature for the October 26 repeat presidential election and maintains the poll will not be free and fair.
He says NASA will not take part in another shambolic election.
He accuses the IEBC of manipulating the August 8 election in which President Uhuru Kenyatta was declared winner by over eight million votes.
The former Prime Minister challenged the outcome of the poll at the Supreme Court and won.
Raila will return to the country on Saturday night after a two-day visit to the UK where he delivered a lecture at the famous Catham House, The Royal Institute of International Affairs in the UK.
The institution is a globally acknowledged independent academic and policy research center of international status based in London and offers advisory recommendations to the UK government on pertinent policy issues.
“We want to urge all our supporters in Mombasa to turn out in large numbers for the rally,” Dr Kingi said.
“This is a NASA base and Uhuru should not expect to get any votes here.”
