Speaking at the CDF offices in Aram on Friday, Gumbo pointed out that division is likely to cost the opposition during the upcoming polls.

He also said there is no way the leaders will send Jubilee home if they are going to work separately.

The outspoken politician cited the case in which former President Daniel Moi took advantage of the division within the opposition to clinch the seat with less than 32 percent of the total votes cast during that election.

“In 1992 Moi was elected with less than 32 percent of the votes after the unified opposition leaders parted ways,” he said, as quoted by the Star.

Gumbo asked opposition leaders to approach their campaigns cautiously if they want to make their dream a reality.

“We can only have one president at a time,” Gumbo said.

His remarks come at a time when the opposition is working on the best strategy to dethrone Jubilee from power.

Different leaders from the opposition including Cord leader Raila Odinga, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula have shown interest in the nation’s top seat.
