The National Super Alliance (NASA) principals need to parade their families on the frontline of demonstrations against IEBC if they are to be taken seriously. So far, NASA principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula have skipped all previous protests held in recent weeks, leaving opposition supporters to be alone with police in the streets. Raila has called on his supporters countrywide to participate in the staging of anti-IEBC protests, on Mondays and Fridays, as a way to force his ‘irreducible minimums’ — a list of unreasonable demands — to be met before the October 26 presidential election. Former ODM gubernatorial candidate in Bungoma County Alfred Khang’ati has asked Kenyans not to participate in the NASA demos unless the NASA chiefs have put their loved ones on the frontline of the street protests. Mr Khang’ati, who has since decamped to the Jubilee Party and declared his support for the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta, said the demos were disturbing the peace of the country and need to be stopped. “I am appealing to Kenyans not to join NASA leaders in the demos unless they put their families and relatives on the frontline,” the former assistant minister said, as per the Star. “We are witnessing a situation where some people hold us hostage by using idle youth to disturb our peace. It should stop,’ he added. The NASA chiefs need to realise that Kenyans can no longer be taken as fools. They will no longer accept to be used for the selfish interests of a few individuals.
