A section of the National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders have praised President Uhuru Kenyatta for ordering the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to keep off the country's roads.
Led by NASA co-principal Moses Wetang'ula, the leaders hailed the move, terming the directive as long overdue.
Wetang'ula, the Senate Minority Leader, called for the disbandment of the Francis Meja-led agency, adding that the managers should be held accountable for their actions.
"The President should also ensure that action is taken against the officials. We should not accept their recklessness and move on," the Bungoma Senator told the Nation on Wednesday.
Echoing the same sentiments, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Treasurer Timothy Bosire, thanked Uhuru for the order and called for attitude change.
"We are not doing anything right as a country. We do not succeed in every step we make," said the former Kitutu-Masaba Member of Parliament.
While making the directive to keep NTSA off roads, the President said it was aimed at curbing more road carnage.
He spoke on Tuesday at Maili Tatu in Meru County during the burial of three AIPCA bishops killed in a collision at Wamumu, Kirinyaga County on December 29.
