NASA leaders are rooting for the late Francis Nyanze's wife to take over as the Kitui West MP.
Speaking during the burial of the late MP, leaders said the widow, Edith Nyenze, is up to the task.
"I want to ask you people of Kitui that when time comes, don't look too far. Take Edith to be your MP," Chris Wamalwa said.
Nyenze has been Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka's Mr Fix it.
Kalonzo was even expected to grace the burial.
There were talks too that Kalonzo would take over as Kitui MP following the death.
His allies however dismissed the proposal saying that would be stooping too low.
It was also complicated by the fact that Charity Ngilu, who has been trying to oust Kalonzo as the Ukambani supremo, is a governor in Kitui county.
That means Kalonzo becoming an MP would be her junior in political corridors.
