Sarah Farah was on the bus that was traveling through Mandera when it was attacked by Al Shabaab fighters in December 2015.

The attackers had told the bus’ occupants to split up— Christians and Muslims—but he was among Muslim Passengers who declined to obey the order. This prompted one of the attackers to shoot at him. He died a month later in a Nairobi hospital undergoing treatment.

But NASA leaders Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, Farah Maalim, Junet Muhamed and Hassan Joho who toured Mandera on Tuesday offered to educate the late Farah’s children.

Kalonzo said through the Kalonzo Foundation the children will receive tuition as well money for upkeep for all the time the minors will be at school.

Joho and Junet promised to construct a permanent house for the late Farah’s family while Maalim and Mudavadi gave out a donation of Sh1 million in aid of the family.

At the time of the attack, the Sabaab fighters had offered him an escape but he declined.

After his death, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet paid tribute to him telling Kenyans 'Farah was a true hero.
