The National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principals will go on a retreat again from Monday in a bid to settle on a flag bearer.
This comes against the backdrop of reports that ODM leader Raila Odinga had promised to back ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi for President, in a “gentleman agreement” last year.
The most recent statement by Raila’s party sparked outrage among other NASA affiliate parties.
Wiper, ANC and Ford Kenya accused the Orange party of negotiating in bad faith.
ODM secretary general Agnes Zani had said that the NASA Coordinating Committee settled on a Raila – Kalonzo Musyoka line up.
Kalonzo and Mudavadi demanded a public apology from ODM over the statement, which they said could split the opposition outfit.
Sources close to the four principals – Raila, Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula – say the document by the Technical Committee will, during the Easter holiday retreat, guide the leaders in reaching a conclusion.
The report analyses the strengths and weaknesses of each of the principals, and which line up would beat Jubilee Party candidate – President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto.
“I’m urging my brothers Raila, Kalonzo and Mudavadi that in this retreat we are attending, we must come out clearly. Don’t let down Kenyans. We must come up with a win-win situation,” Ford Kenya leader Wetangula said on Thursday.
Kalonzo flew to Dubai on Wednesday night while Raila left the country for South Africa yesterday.
“Kalonzo is in Dubai while Raila is going to South Africa today,” Wetang’ula said, as quoted by The Nation.
The two, reportedly jetted out of the country to attend private businesses.
They are expected to arrive back in time for their Monday meeting.
