Malala claims that the President Uhuru Kenyatta led government is afraid of Miguna’s tough stand on issues and criticism.

Speaking to journalists at the Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Tuesday, he said that the Canadian based lawyer is being harassed for his push for rule of law.

“What the government is trying to do  is to create an atmosphere of fear to politicians in efforts to stop them from criticizing its wrong-doings,” he  alleged.

Malala said that Miguna is an innocent person who does not deserve to be humiliated.

“Miguna Miguna has been treated like a fugitive which is constitutionally wrong because he is a Kenyan ,” he said.

The Amani National Congress (ANC) senator said that the police and Immigration officials move to bundle Miguna into plane on Tuesday night was shameful.

He asked the Jubilee government to observe rule of law and allow Miguna into the country unconditionally.

“The court orders were clear and we don’t know why the government is keen on frustrating Miguna,” the vocal ANC senator added.

He asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene and secure Miguna’s safe entry into the country.

Miguna continues to be held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where he has been since he jetted from  Canada on Monday.

On Monday  night, Miguna fought attempts to have him deported again after he was bundled into an Emirates plane en-route to Dubai.

Efforts by NASA leader Raila Odinga to secure Miguna did not bear fruits on Monday night.

The government maintains that Miguna is undocumented passenger and cannot be allowed in unless he applies for Kenyan passport.

Miguna has, however, received a reprieve after High court sitting in Nairobi ordered for his immediate release.

On Tuesday, High Court Judge Roselyn Aburili said that Miguna was illegally detained and should be released and allowed into the country unconditionally.
