The opposition coalition NASA will have to wait until after the August 8, elections to get a court verdict of their case seeking to bar deployment of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops in suspected hot spots during the poll period.
The High Court has adjourned the case to September 22. NASA had filed the case claiming the executive took the directive without consulting parliament as it is required by law.
NASA has so far accepted the adjournment but said they will not withdraw the case.
However, according to Article 236(1) of the Constitution, the government is justified to deploy the military if the exercise is in the public interest.
